About Ready Steady Games

It started with a "brain melt."

The idea for Ready Steady Games wasn't born in a boardroom; it was born at my kitchen table while watching my son struggle with studying for his 11+ Grammar School entrance exam. The problem wasn't his ability—it was the material. It was dry, repetitive, and page after page of "boring" that eventually made his brain melt.

As I watched him plod through his workbooks, I thought: There has to be a better way. I realized that the skills I had spent my career mastering—first as a Marketing Executive building entertainment brands, and then as a Screenwriter for TV and film—were exactly what was missing. I knew how to hook an audience, how to build a story, and how to create a narrative that makes people want to know what happens next.

By distilling my experience in Podcasting, TV, and Film into educational design, I began turning dry educational concepts into story-driven adventures. I replaced repetitive drills with logic-based puzzles that actually give kids an incentive to learn. If they want to catch the thief or stop the outbreak, they have to master the comma splice or long division.

Today, I design resources for Grades 4–6 (Year 5 & 6) that are low-prep for teachers but high-engagement for learners. Since moving my family from Portland, Oregon, to Gloucestershire, England, in 2023, I've been dedicated to creating classroom tools that combine strong academic foundations with the cinematic flair of a summer blockbuster.

When I'm not in "the lab" creating new mysteries, I'm usually writing my next feature film, exploring the UK, or making my way through the stack of unread books on my nightstand.

Practice shouldn't feel like a penalty. Let's learn, play, and escape together!
